Hey Team! Today is #WildchildWednesday and we are featuring one of my favorite young ladies, Madison Titus.
Madison is taking part in the #SugarPledge. Her amazing parents Marc and Brenda mentioned her new undertaking to me and I was excited to hear all about it.
Madison was selected to be a part of #SuperCamp2020. #SuperCamp is an intensive 4-week leadership training academy. Individuals chosen to be a member of this community are agreeing to support the mission of the GrassROOTS Community Foundation, Inc (GCF) work which is to commit to creating a world where all girls grow up to be healthy women. GCF was co-founded by Dr. Janice Johnson Dias and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, lead MC of the Grammy Award winning group, The Roots.
As part of camp, Madison and her family took the sugar pledge. Part of the pledge is to reduce and/or eliminate artificial sugars from ones daily diet. The goal is to instead choose healthy, natural sugars from fruits and opt for more vegetables in their diet.
This is what Madison had to say about starting the experience:
“Hi Ms Dani! When I started, I felt…scared. I wasn’t sure how I was going to live without sugar. At this point, I’ve been a part of the pledge for 3 days. At the end, I expect that I’ll be more fit and healthy because I hadn’t really been eating veggies before the Sugar Pledge.
It is difficult because I enjoy eating sugary things, like ice pops and cookies and it’s kind of hard to restrain myself from asking mommy, can I have an ice pop?
I’ve tried to eat more veggies and new things that I would not have tried before the sugar pledge, like bell peppers, and zucchini. I wouldn’t be eating that unless the Sugar Pledge came around”.
The whole family is taking part and posting their delicious meals on IG.
